The following discography consists of more than 15,000 songs across more than 40 tango artists. We have tried our best to make these discographies correct and complete, but with any project of this scale there are guaranteed to be errors. If you find any, please let us know at tangotoolkit@gmail.com.

The data presented here is a compilation of sources. While it certainly took effort, it was nothing compared to the monumental efforts of the researchers who meticulously compiled the information. We highly recommend you look up the references below. In addition to providing invaluable information on artist discographies, they also provide valuable notes and resources for tango DJs, historians, and aficionados.

Note: The data has been subset to only include songs categorized as Tango, Vals, or Milonga. Candombe recordings are grouped under Milonga.

Tango Time Travel provides meticulously researched discographies of artists for select periods of their recording careers. The TTT transfers are of the highest quality and are available for purchase on their website.

El Recodo

A rich collection of tools for the tango community

El Recodo provides artist discography information along with an extensive suite of tools useful to tango DJs and tango music lovers. Many of the discographies presented were cross-referenced with information from El Recodo to check for completeness and accuracy.

Tango-DJ.at

Association for the preservation and provision of Argentine Tango

Tango-DJ.at provides a vast database of tango discography information. This has been especially useful for searching and cross-referencing composer and author information. Tango-DJ.at is especially useful for DJs who want to compare different versions of a given recording to select the highest quality release.

Guardia Vieja

Historic tango recordings in their correct speed and the best possible sound

Guardia Vieja presents extensive research conducted by José Manuel Araque, Enrique Binda, Camilo Gatica, and Mark John to prepare discographies and orchestra information on early tango orchestras. The discographies for Osvaldo Fresedo, Julio De Caro, and Juan Carlos Cobián depend on their extensive research. Guardia Vieja also provides high-quality transfers of early-era tango recordings.

Encyclopedia of Tango by Gabriel Valiente

A detailed account of tango recordings before, during, and after the Golden Age of tango, along with tango orchestras, musicians, and singers. A must-have resource for anyone serious about understanding the artists and tracks of the Golden Age of tango.

Milonga Press — Books by Michael Lavocah

The go-to resources for tango history. They provide meticulously documented discographies, orchestra lineups, and also help to understand the various eras of the orchestras.

Carlos Gardel International Foundation

Keeping alive the legacy and figure of Carlos Gardel

The Carlos Gardel International Foundation provides an extensive discography and information on the life and music of Carlos Gardel. These resources were used to check and extend the Gardel discography presented here.

The Astor Piazzolla Foundation
