TigerTango is a customized VirtualDJ skin specifically designed for the needs of tango DJs.

Power and reliability of VirtualDJ
Clean interface configured for tango DJing
Added safety features so you can focus on the dancers
Built-in semiparametric equalizer
VST3 and video display integrations
Song fade-out buttons (great for cortinas)

“The TigerTango VirtualDJ skin interface is perfect for Tango DJs. As a Traktor user for the last 10 years, I never stopped looking for a more practical alternative, until now.”

— Éric Heleno, Sound Systems Engineer & Tango DJ

“Until now, software for Tango DJing meant compromise: too little, or way too much. TigerTango fixes this. Designed and tuned for Tango DJs, its interface and unique features finally fit our craft.”

— DJ Ragnar (Germany)

“It is totally awesome, making tango DJ-ing wonderfully streamlined on the technical side. VDJ with TigerTango blows all other options out of the water. Loving it!!!”

— TDJ Michael Plaks (Houston, Texas)

TigerTango is built on VirtualDJ, so you’ll want to download that first. You can get it from their website here.

Use the 2025 version of VirtualDJ.

The 2026 release added an audio watermark to the free version. For those who would like to try out the full free version, we have added a link to the 2025 version below. (Follow steps to disable automatic updates).

You can install TigerTango directly in VirtualDJ: Settings → Extensions → Search "TigerTango". You can also download the latest version with the link below.

Plugin-only downloads (Windows)

Prefer to drop the VST3 in by hand? Grab the plugin for your edition. (macOS plugins are inside the installer above.)

IMPORTANT!

Do not toggle the plugin off mid-song. This will cause a small jump in the music. Use the BYPASS button in the plugin to smoothly toggle it on and off.

Windows note: The installer may trigger a SmartScreen warning. Click More infoRun anyway to proceed, or download the VST3 plugin and install manually below.

Windows

Copy the VST3 for your edition (Hisstory.vst3 or Hisstory Lite.vst3) into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\, then rescan plugins in your DAW.

macOS

Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to mount it — a window will open showing both Hisstory.vst3 and Hisstory.component (Audio Unit). Install whichever format your DAW uses (or both):

  • VST3: Drag Hisstory.vst3 into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/ (system-wide) or ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/ (current user only).
  • Audio Unit (.component): Drag Hisstory.component into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ (system-wide) or ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ (current user only). Required for apps like Audio Hijack.

Eject the disk image, then restart or rescan plugins in your DAW. On first launch, macOS may prompt you to allow the plugin in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Plugin Play

Run your DJ software through a live VST3 effect chain

Free & open source Beta Windows 10/11 & macOS · 64-bit · GPLv3

Plugin Play routes any app — your DJ software (VirtualDJ, Traktor, Mixxx), a browser, Spotify — through a chain of VST3 effects in real time, then out to your speakers or audio interface. Pick the app in the INPUT dropdown and Plugin Play wires the audio for you, with no Windows sound-settings fiddling. It’s the easiest way to run plugins like Hisstory across your whole set, live.

One-click app routing — send any open app through your effects
Serial VST3 chain: drag to reorder, bypass per effect, floating plugin windows
Brickwall safety limiter guards your speakers
Master FX kill switch with click-free crossfade
Chain presets, session persistence & automatic sample-rate matching
In/out peak meters, ASIO output, and in-app update checks
What you need.

64-bit Windows 10 (2004) or later or a recent macOS, and your effects in VST3 format. On Windows, the installer can also set up VB-Audio’s VB-CABLE — the virtual audio cable Plugin Play uses to route apps (recommended; it needs a reboot afterward).

Free and open source, for Windows and macOS. The installer bundles everything it needs — no extra runtimes.

Beta: the Windows and macOS builds are currently in beta — expect the occasional rough edge, and please report anything you hit. Neither build is code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen (More infoRun anyway) or macOS Gatekeeper may warn on first run.

Install (Windows)
  1. Download PluginPlay-<version>-Setup.exe above and run it — everything is built in, so there are no extra runtimes to install.
  2. When prompted, let it install VB-CABLE — the virtual audio cable Plugin Play uses to route apps (recommended; reboot afterward).
  3. Launch Plugin Play; a short first-run walkthrough opens automatically.
Install (macOS — beta)
  1. Download PluginPlay-<version>-macOS.zip above and unzip it.
  2. Move Plugin Play to your Applications folder.
  3. First launch: the build isn’t notarized yet, so right-click the app and choose Open (or allow it under System Settings → Privacy & Security).
  4. A short first-run walkthrough opens automatically; the in-app HELP and GUIDE buttons cover routing and setup.
Quick start
  1. SCAN PLUGINS finds your VST3 effects (runs automatically on first launch).
  2. Set your input: pick a running app (Spotify, VirtualDJ…) in the INPUT dropdown and Plugin Play routes it through the cable for you — or route manually (DJ software out → “CABLE Input”, Plugin Play IN → “CABLE Output”, OUT → your sound card).
  3. + Add Plugin to build your chain — drag to reorder and open each plugin’s own window.
  4. Play. The LIMITER guards your speakers and FX ON/OFF is the master kill switch.

The in-app HELP button covers everything in more depth, and GUIDE replays the walkthrough.

Plugin Play is donationware.

It’s free and open source — yours to keep, forever, for nothing. If it earns a place in your setup, please consider chipping in $5–$10 to support development and keep new features coming. You can also tip straight from the app’s SUPPORT button.
